Myofascial Release is a simple way of utilizing the body's natural self correcting mechanism. By applying light steady pressure, combined with intense focus of the mind, over a period of several minutes, the fascia (deep connective tissue) will change the shape of it's molecules from that of a solid to a gel. It is one of those ingenious, somewhat undiscovered miracles the body provides; all we have to do is use it. When these interconnected reservoirs of fascia change to gel, they release restrictions on any muscles, nerves, discs, organs and joints that may have been held captive under up to 2000 lbs of pressure per square inch. Sometimes the relief felt from these releases is enormous, freeing up seemingly unconnected parts of the body that have felt frozen for years. Other times they are more subtle, or may include the freeing up of emotions and holding patterns that were established during a trauma that occurred years earlier. The results may last months or years, and ultimately allows the body to return to it's original, balanced posture. All without the use of painful force.

One of the basic principles of Myofascial Release is balancing the hips by releasing and stretching the fascia around them. This allows the spine, along with the entire upper body from sacrum to neck, to be carried correctly. Balancing of the hips often corrects many long standing issues in just one session.

People with Parkinson's and other muscle disease often find great relief from periodic sessions of Myofascial Release. Those that experience stiffening of the muscles in the extremities often experience increased mobility due to the melting of the fascia holding the tight muscles in their limbs.
